Computer Training for Underprivileged Youth
Global Youth IT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to advance the lives of the underprivileged youth of the world through computer training and IT (information technology) certification. The end goal is for each of the graduates to become elite IT professionals in their country. By adding to the IT brain power of the host country through the training of selected orphans, street kids, and vulnerable children to use computer technology in a corporate environment, our efforts work in concert with the host country's internal goals of technology growth and the Millennium Development Goals set forth by the United Nations.
In 2019 our program in Ethiopia was displaced due to the Beautifying Sheger Project in Addis Ababa - a green development effort to clean up the polluted rivers. The project starts from Mount Entoto to Akaki, covering 56km of green areas along the rivers, passing through the former Basha Wolde Chilot, in front of the national Parliament at Arat Kilo and the heavily populated Piassa in Addis Ababa’s center where our projected operated and served the street kids in the neighbor known as the "post office" area. Literally, overnight our students had vanished as their homes were demolished to make way for the construction. You can see a promotional video about the project here.
We are currently looking for a new project to start. Please contact us with any ideas you may have.
